Have you noticed your own web browsing habits? How long do you usually stay on any given website especially if you are just browsing around? Does less than five minutes a good estimate? Studies have shown that people generally stay for just a few couple of minutes on any website. This can especially be true if that person is just like flipping through pages and does not really have any specific purpose or goal in mind when hopping from one site to the next.
The most important thing to remember is that every visitor to your site, no matter how long or how short his stay can be, is a potential customer or client and therefore it is always a priority to get them interested enough for them to give you their contact details. But everybody knows it is easier said than done when it comes to enticing people to give their email address. For this reason I have listed three effective ways to a good list building strategy.
1. Give a white paper
This is better if offered in an ebook format. When you give people an ebook, they know that you are giving them something of value, something that is almost tangible that represents your good intentions in helping them with their problems or any concerns. So if you are a web designer for example, you can create a how-to-guide on creating an attractive logo. Of course people can only get it if they give their contact details.
2. Offer a coupon
Coupons will always be a popular thing to most people. Who wouldn’t want to save a few more dollars on a purchase, right? You can offer coupons even from third-party sites or companies. This is where partnering with other entities can be deemed important because of the benefits that you can gain.
3. Offer a discount
You can tie up with third-party companies or websites in offering a discount on a specific product or service. Coupons are also popular like the ones used when signing up for a hosting package or getting a new domain.
